What's going on in my world?

An update on my world and plans for the summer:

I have a baby due in July and September! Ok...not me...but I have clients that have babies due these months and I honestly can't wait. I don't think I will be content until I have a newborn session booked once a week! My last session with baby L could not have gone better. He slept nearly the entire time and only cried when he was needing to be changed. He was four days new and still had that sleepy personality that made it easy to manipulate him into several poses comfortably. His mom is a long time family friend and I actually think I can remember helping her with sippy cups and finding her favorite blankie. I have known her since birth. I found out this session that my camera has the ability to pick up finite detail that I haven't seen in my past sessions. Yet another reason that I hate I am self taught and I haven't gone to school for photography. I priced my no knowledge first sessions as FREE and learned little by little. As I learn more I compensate for my knowledge and my time.

I recently had a patient who had just gotten engaged a week ago. As a college student and working part time she was concerned with the fact that she wouldn't be able to afford engagement pictures. I was thrilled when she took me up on my offer to complete an engagement session for her in a vintage like theme. It seemed we shared the same ideas and the both of us were giddy at the thought of how the photo session will lay out. Hopefully she will contact me soon, I am completely looking forward to it!

A friend that I have not seen for several years saw me at a gathering for my sister and explained to me that she wanted to show me some pictures of her children.....however she wanted to proceed with a comment..."I am sorry I didn't have you take them". She was very pleased with the pictures and she was not in regret that she had them done but she felt she owed me some sort of loyalty! I was very flattered. I hope that when my friends and family think of me that they do think warm thoughts of my talent. I have so far to go! I (with my other "photog" friends) search the internet not for ideas to copy but for inspiration. It is amazing a breathtaking how talented some photographers are. I don't plan on quitting my day job (so to speak) but I do strive to continue to incorporate photography into my lifestyle very heavily.

A great friend that I actually meet at my second ever photo shoot took a great picture of me! I did ask her..and I was picky on the editing, but she was behind the camera. How did I meet this friend? I had been asked to take pictures of Miss E's Baptism and she was invited to the family event. She approached me afterwards and asked me how long I had been a photographer because she stated that I just look like I knew what I was doing. I didn't! It was my second every shoot and I was hoping and praying probably more than the priest....that I could just get a few non-blurry shots of the baby being baptized, maybe I would get lucky and get the water pouring over her head...but I wasn't holding my breath. After the event we began to chat and realized that we both had the same aspirations in photography and that we could help one another in the process. Did I mention she lives in my neighborhood? So far we have laughed, cried, and taken pictures together! How awesome!!!
Pictures from that Baptism are in the blog post from January's posts.
